Who we support
Chelsea Kiwanis has long been a supporter of Children’s Charities in the Chelsea and Shelby County area. Fund raisers are held yearly to support The King’s Home, Scholarships for Key Club Members at Chelsea High School and more. Through the years we have supported the Neo-Natal Unit at Shelby Baptist Hospital as well as a reading program at the Chelsea Library. A new reading Gazebo is being built in 2015 at the Chelsea Library to allow an outdoor reading space and classroom option for learning in an outdoor space.
Cuddly and soft Kiwanis-Bears have been donated to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies as well as local Fire Departments and Hosptials to be distributed to children at accident, fire scenes and other events where a soft bear can bring some comfort to a scared child. Local elementary schools have been the recipients of socks and undies for the kids who have need of such items while at school. Discretionary dollars have also been donated so the principals in each school might meet specific needs that were not covered in the budget.
Chelsea High School Key Club
Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.
Each year the Chelsea High School Key Club members participate in a variety of community service events to earn credit hours. They have helped at many local charities as well as the Pancake Breakfast. Look for them in service to Chelsea and Shelby county.
